Family restaurant looks to add to local entertainment scene
Local family restaurant Pier 7 is looking forward to expanding their entertainment options throughout 2017.
The establishment consists of a family restaurant, lounge and the Upper Bar which has recently become home to a number of varying musical performances. The first event of 2017 saw successful Sunday Open Jam Nights in the Upper Bar. A number of Central Alberta and Sylvan Lake based performing artists utilized the venue to showcase their music ability and attendees of the event were thrilled to have another live music option. Open Jam nights are currently on hold until the summer season begins.
Upon seeing the success of the performances, general manager of Pier 7 Sheree Davies, opted to expand another night of the week to welcome a local DJ, Sam Cullis to perform electronic shows in the Upper Bar on Friday and Saturday evenings. In May, Davies hopes to see the electronic music shows expanded to Thursday nights as well.
“What we really want to be able to do is provide entertainment on a local level so people aren’t having to drive to Red Deer for a fun night out,” explained Davies. “The more local entertainment we have and the more we can help that scene develop then the better.”
Pier 7 also plans to continue with their Wednesday Trivia Night’s which coincides with their mussel nights which Davies said aims to offer Lakers an alternative entertainment option for Wednesday evenings.
“We’re still the same great family restaurant with the same food everyone knows and loves, but the Upper Bar is a unique venue and we’re really looking forward to the summer season and being able to expand on what’s possible there,” said Davies.
