Icy Christmas tree

The outdoor ice block Christmas tree in front of the Chilibeck home at 5024-47A Avenue, was a work of dedication.

“It took lots of hours, lots of food colouring and much co-operation from Mother Nature,” wrote Laurie Chilibeck. “It looks better at night in the dark. Lights go on at 5 p.m. My husband Dan started in November with six square buckets in the freezer. Finally Mother Nature co-operated and we were able to start freezing them outside. Sometimes they would take longer to freeze if the temperatures were milder.”

The creation now includes 62 blocks.
