Production
The
Sylvan Lake News is produced in a Macintosh environment
using Adobe CS3
(InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Submissions of text documents are preferred in "text"
or "ASCII text" formats. Please, do not format
your document with anything other than plain text as
special text handling commands may not translate.
The
most reliable method of transmitting graphics or photos
from almost any platform is in jpeg format. A resolution
of 300 dpi is preferred to maintain image quality. If
in doubt as to the size of an image, larger is always
better than smaller. We will adjust colours and darkness
to suit our presses. We print using CMYK colours.
PDFs
have become a preferred method of sending documents
with text, fonts and images embedded. We can use PDF
documents which are properly formatted but have limited
capabilities to change any portion of their contents.
Please submit your pdf documents with the correct colour
profile - grayscale if it is to be printed in black
and white; CMYK if it is to be printed in colour. When in doubt, please contact our sales department as listed above.
