SSylvan Lake Blizzard U16 girls claimed bronze medals in the 2010 Alberta Rural Provincial Championship during the July 9, 10 & 11th weekend.
The ladies record on the weekend was: lost 2-1 to Big County; won 3-0 over Sherwood Park; won 2-1 over North West Central; won bronze 2-0 over Lacombe.
We beat North West Central 2-1. They eventually won gold; so it was pretty close.
The Blizzard beat the eventual gold medal winner, (North West Central) but lost out to play in the final due to goal differential. The Blizzard were a very young team this season, playing against many teams in the league and at provincials that carried mostly second year gals. Three U-14 girls played up to the U-16 team for the tournament, Georgia England, Phoenix Schultz and Olivia Barnes.
The winning goal in the bronze medal game was scored by Georgia England on a corner kick from Roshell Organ.
Many of the Blizzard girls have had much success over the years representing Sylvan Lake, with this season capping off a rewarding run.
