Ecole Steffie Woima Elementary School will be holding a Spring Carnival to raise funds for a new playground.

The school has been raising funds to go towards the playground project over the last couple of years, administrative support staff member Nicky Lagoutte said.

“Some of the fundraising we have done in the past includes family dances, canteen proceeds, online silent auction, White Elephant Christmas store, and a Read-a-thon.”

The idea to do a Spring Carnival came from the school’s fundraising society playground committee members, she added.

“We are excited about the Spring Carnival at Steffie. We are truly appreciative of the efforts of our staff, Fundraising Society’s committee members, our families, and our community members and business for their support and willingness to help us out.”

All of the corporate donations that have been received are greatly appreciated, Lagoutte said.

“Falcon Homes, Helix Wireline, Equs, Cilantro and Chive, from Red Deer, has a special dessert dedicated to our school in the months of April and May.”

Apart from the carnival soon local restaurant Lodge 43 will be creating a burger of the month where a portion of the proceeds will go to the playground project as well, she added.

“Our hope is to reach our goal in the next year and we have a construction goal for September of 2025.”

The Spring Carnival will be taking place on April 11 at the school gymnasium from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
