AQUA SPLASH - Sylvan Lake Aqua Splash is officially opening this summer after having their soft-launch last fall.

Sylvan Lake Aqua Splash is about to begin its first full summer, after having their soft opening last fall. With the deconstruction of Wild Rapids Water Slide Park, Aqua Splash owner Charlie Everest is hoping this new Sylvan attraction will help fill the void.

“We are opening on weekends starting June 17 and the official summer opening will be on June 30,” he said, adding that the soft opening was helpful in many ways.

“We got a good feel for the numbers and how to weather storms,” he said. “Our whole anchoring system is in place and this year we are increasing our capacity from 80 to 100 people. We are adding three new larger components - which are a blow bag and what are called lily pads.”

Feedback for the park was generally positive, and is something that Everest looks to build upon.

“All the feedback was positive other than a couple about water temperatures - which we can’t control,” he said. “If someone wasn’t having a good time out there, we would give their money back. We haven’t had to do that once.”

Sylvan Lake Aqua Splash will be situated in the same location - in the water across from the former location of the water slide park.

“It will be right off that point,” he said, adding that he is looking forward to Aqua Splash being part of the Sylvan Lake community.

“We will try to do a lot of community based days, like a locals day,” he said. “We are hoping for a great hot summer.”

Everest is pleased to see that the former water slide property is being turned into a lakeside park.

“It looks like that will be a nice little park they are building and we a have nice, new storefront right by Chateau suites where Country Lights used to be. We will have some Aqua Splash retail items there,” he said.

The capacity of Aqua Splash is something that can continually grow, according to Everest.

“The beauty about the Aqua Splash is that we can grow with demand,” he said. “We have enough water and anchors in place that will hold a lot. Each year they are coming out with newer and bigger, better things.”

Everest added he hopes “that the community supports them and we look forward to supporting the community and having a good summer.”
