A Red Deer man still facing impaired driving charges in relation to a collision that resulted in the death of a 13 year old boy on Canada Day 2010, has been  charged with several more offences following an incident in Sylvan Lake.

Sylvan Lake RCMP responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Dec. 21st and located a parked and running vehicle with the driver slumped over the steering wheel.

After waking the driver and speaking to him, he was arrested for impaired care or control of a motor vehicle, said Cpl. Kevin Halwa in a news release.

A search of the man and the vehicle located cash, crack cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.

Rodney Ross Arens, 36, of Red Deer is facing 14 charges including impaired care or control of a motor vehicle and drug related charges. He is also facing several charges of failing to comply with a recognizance.

Arens appeared in Red Deer provincial court Dec. 23 and remains in custody to return to court Jan. 7.
