The Sylvan Lake Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the 2017 Business Awards.
The awards have been apart of Sylvan Lake for 40 years as of 2017.
They were put into place to recognize “outstanding businesses and individuals” in the community. The businesses and individuals nominated for awards are said to have demonstrated achievements in and for Sylvan Lake over the past year.
There is criteria for each category, the the Chamber vets each nomination received.
If the nominee meets the basic criteria they will be asked to accept the nomination before the awards ceremony.
The finalists and winner for each category are chosen by an anonymous judging panel.
Categories include: Large Business of the Year; Small Business of the Year; Customer Service Excellence Award; Marketing Excellence Award; Visitor Friendly Award; Young Entrepreneur Award; Employee of the Year and the Cheryl Darling Memorial Award - the Business Woman of the Year.
Last year the awards were handed out to businesses like the Sylvan Lake Municipal Library, Bukwildz, Clean Conscience Recycling, House of Music and Best Body Fitness.
Finalist will be honoured at the annual Mermaid Ball where the winner in each category will be announced.
The dinner, dance and awards will be held on Oct. 13.
