Efforts are continuing today to recover a 43-year-old male who went missing after his boat overturned near Sunbreaker Cove.

On Aug. 13, shortly after 4 p.m., three adults and a 10-year-old child left Sunbreaker Cove on a boat, and approximately 10 minutes later a storm hit the lake. The boat was overturned and all four occupants were thrown from the boat. Three of the occupants were able to stay with the boat with the assistance of their personal flotation devices, and eventually managed to swim to shore. The male was last seen in the water and it is believed that he was injured as a result of the boat capsizing.

Sylvan Lake RCMP with the assistance of the Sylvan Lake Fire Department, Red Deer County and Alberta Parks Conservation Officers were involved in searching on the evening of Aug. 13, as well as all day yesterday. Due to inclement weather conditions yesterday search efforts were suspended.

This morning, search efforts are continuing and an update will be provided when new information becomes available. The names of the involved boaters will not be released by the RCMP.
