Stolen truck recovered following collision with tree

January 17

3:21 a.m. - RCMP conducted a roadside stop on Range Road 11 in Red Deer County. A vehicle was observed being driven erratically. The 18-year-old male driver exhibited signs of impairment and breath samples were taken. The male was subsequently issued a 30 day license suspension and his vehicle was seized for seven days. He also received a fine for transporting liquor in a vehicle within easy reach of the occupant.

10:56 p.m. - A fight outside the Boston Pizza in Sylvan Lake resulted in RCMP attendance. Witnesses reported that a 31-year-old male and a 23-year-old male were involved in a brief physical altercation outside the restaurant. The older male was struck and hit the ground after attempting to hit the younger male. EMS was called and checked the male to ensure no serious injuries were sustained. RCMP determined that both males were involved in a consensual fight with neither wanting charges. Alcohol was a factor in the incident.

January 18

12:40 p.m. - RCMP are investigating the theft of a vehicle parked outside a residence on Lodge Place in Sylvan Lake. The registered owner advised that his truck was stolen overnight while parked outside his residence. He told police that an extra set of keys were left inside the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered a short time later. It was involved in a collision with a tree off Memorial Drive.

5:23 p.m. - A 911 call was received by RCMP dispatch of a break and enter into a residence in Red Deer County. Police attended a property on Township Road 372 and discovered the doors to the home and the garage damaged. Several items were stolen. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.

January 19

12:05 p.m. - A break in to a business in Bentley is being investigated by RCMP. A fence was cut at Bentley Storage and trailers on the property were entered into. Locks were cut off the trailers to gain access.

7:52 p.m. - A male is facing impaired driving charges in relation to a roadside stop on Highway 20 near Sylvan Lake. A motorist contacted 911 to report an erratic driver on Highway 20 heading southbound toward Sylvan Lake from Rainy Creek Road. The driver was stopped by RCMP on Highway 20 and a roadside screening device was utilized. A 20-year-old male from Provost is charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level over .08.

January 21

3:02 p.m. - RCMP were called to a break in at a residence on Range Road 10 in Red Deer County. A female contacted 911 to report that her parents’ house had been entered into after the front door to the residence was damaged. Various rooms in the home were ransacked. An investigation is continuing.

January 23

12:07 a.m. - Several stolen vehicles were reported to RCMP by a resident on Ross Close in Sylvan Lake. A male contacted police advising that his truck was stolen along with an attached trailer. A bobcat on the trailer was also stolen. The owner advised that he had all keys to the vehicle and the vehicle was secure at the time of the theft. The investigation is continuing.
