The body of a 43-year-old man who went missing after a boat was overturned on Sylvan Lake was recovered Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. The discovery comes after the search and rescue mission was reportedly called off.

The Sylvan Lake Fire Department and Sylvan Lake Victim Services Unit provided assistance and support. A group on facebook has identified the boater as Jason Groulx. A dog is still missing from the incident as well.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the Office of the Medical Examiner.

The Sylvan Lake RCMP would like to send their condolences to the family during this difficult time and thank all those involved in the search and recovery efforts for their assistance.

Police say there will be no further updates provided on this incident.

On Aug. 13, shortly after 4 p.m., three adults and a 10-year-old child left Sunbreaker Cove on a boat, and approximately 10 minutes later a storm hit the lake. The boat was overturned and all four occupants were thrown from the boat. Three of the occupants were able to stay with the boat with the assistance of their personal flotation devices, and eventually managed to swim to shore. Groulx was last seen in the water and it is believed that he was injured as a result of the boat capsizing.
