OLSON, Joan Annie Ruth

Feb.10, 1933 - Feb. 2, 2017

Joan was born in the backseat of a Model T. Ford while crossing the Centre St. Bridge in Calgary. She grew up in Calgary, later moving to Vancouver, then retiring to Benalto, Alberta where she lived the last 23 years. She's survived by son's Jardy (Charlyene) and Cameron, grand-daughter Amara, sister Eileen along with many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by husband Brian, her mom Muriel, father Walter, brother Allan and infant daughter.

Joan was a hard working loving mom and worked most of her career as a secretary for the Surrey School District. She was a lifelong animal lover and had many cats and dogs as companions. She was an active member of her community and local church. Joan had a talent and passion for cake decorating- instructing and winning several awards at the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver.

She was a warm gentle soul, always kind to those she met, and was loved by all in return. She will now be reunited with all her loved ones beyond the stars.

We loved you so much. Your Smile will Forever be with us. Until we meet again.

A small memorial service was held at the Baptist Church in Benalto, Alberta on February 13th, 2017. Interment followed at the Benalto Cemetery.

If anyone wishes to make a donation in Joan's name to an animal rescue in their area I'm sure it would have warmed her heart. Condolences may be forwarded to:
