Mary Chilibeck (Eliuk) passed away quietly at Bethany on September 13, 2017 at the age of 89.

Mary was born in Kaleland Alberta to parents Nick and Lena Eliuk. Tony Chilibeck and Mary were married on November 7, 1947 in Edmonton. They built their home on a quarter section of land given to Tony by his Dad where they ran a mixed farming operation. It was then they began a family of four children, Ronald, Patricia, Gerald and Daniel.

In 1957, they sold the farm and moved to the Pine Hill district where they continued farming. In 1963 they purchased two quarters of land in the Evarts district. Mary was very busy with farming activities and canning the bountiful produce of the garden. She also was involved with Evarts community activities.

In 2000 Tony and Mary retired from farming and moved to their new home in Sylvan Lake. They enjoyed square and round dancing for over 45 years with the Spruce View Swinging 8's. Mary enjoyed gardening and always took pride in tending to her many flowers and took great pride in winning a flowering award. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and the friendships it brought. She loved to swim.

Mary will long be remembered for her amazing Ukrainian cooking and the warm welcome to the many friends who enjoyed the many feasts.

Mary leaves to mourn her, four children; Ron (Cathy Scaife) Chilibeck, Patricia (Bill) Parks, Gerald (Debi Van Der Mark) Chilibeck and Daniel (Laurie) Chilibeck. Four grandsons; Christopher Chilibeck, Chad Parks, Brett Parks and Craig Chilibeck. Three granddaughters; Kaari (Jeff) Lynch, Trisha Sikstrom and Shauna (Andrew) Van Dirstein. Five great granddaughters; Ayla Lynch, Alannis Parks-Reinhart, Cydney Parks, Stephanie Parks, and Alyah Van Dirstein. Seven great grandsons; Mathew Parks, Austin, Caine and Bridger Sikstrom, Aiden and Cameron Van Dirstein, and Daniel Chilibeck. Mary also leaves behind one sister Vicki Anderson. Two brothers in law Joe Chilibeck and Jim Talbott. One sister in law Iris Eliuk and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents Nick and Lena Eliuk, her husband Tony and three brothers George, Bill and Walter Eliuk and one beloved grandson, Robert Parks.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held at the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home Chapel, on September 20, 2017 at 1 p.m. For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mary's name, the family has chosen the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, 200 - 9750 51 Ave NW, Edmonton AB T6E 0A6, or on their website www.childrenswish.ca
