Miriam E. Hyvonen (Laituri) of Sylvan Lake passed away peacefully on Oct. 31, 2017 at the age of 93.
Born Aug 31, 1924 in Rocky Mountain House the 11th of 12 children to Tekla and John Laituri. Miriam grew up on the family farm in the Oras district, marrying John Hyvonen on Nov. 24, 1943.
They farmed near Eckville AB moving to the Village of Jarvis Bay in 1964. Here Miriam and John raised 3 children, Lorne, Cheryl and Shirley. Miriam was widowed for 19 years and remained active and fiercely independent up until the time she passed.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Lorne (Laddie) Hyvonen, Cheryl (Bob Miller), Shirley Hyvonen, her grandchildren Joel (Becky Parsons), Landon (Ashley Brausen) Crystal (Marc Gauthier), Shane, Glen (Brittani) and her great grandchildren, Seth, Bryce and Hadley.
Relatives and friends were invited to pay their respects at the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home, 5019 - 47a Ave., Sylvan Lake on Thursday, November 2, 2017 between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. followed by a Graveside Service at the Lake View Cemetery, Sylvan Lake at 2:30 p.m. Memorial Donations in Miriam's name may be made directly to a charity of the donor's choice.
