Stettler and area kids get mixed results

The Stettler Junior and High School Rodeo took place Aug. 25-27

This past weekend the town was host to the 2017 Stettler Junior and High School Rodeo, Aug. 25-27, as kids from across the province participated in various events and competed to win hardware.

Of note was local cowboy, Botha’s Denim Ross’ results, who was awarded the Boys High Point. And won the ribbon roping event with Charlee Resch. Ross also won the team roping event with Levi Schmidt.

In the High School event, local cowboy, Beau Cooper won the tie-down roping event, while Botha’s Jace and JD Thorsteinson duo won the team roping event.

The 2017 Stettler Junior High School Rodeo Average winners are as follows:

Bareback: Gordon Erickson 101/2

Saddle Bronc: Darrion Ferrence 113/2

Bull Riding: Darrion Ferrence 126/2

Tie-Down Roping: Landon Warren 25.4/2

Ribbon Roping: Denim Ross and Charlee Resch 17.4/2

Team Roping: Levi Schmidt and Denim Ross 20.0/2

Chute Dogging: Denton Burns 22.3/2

Barrel Racing: Kennedy Chaytors 37.185/2

Pole Bending: Presley Chaytors 41.931/2

Boys Goat Tying: Landon Warren 20.0/2

Boys Breakaway Roping: Jayce McKean 18.9/2

Girls Goat Tying: Kendal Pierson 17.8/2

Girls Breakaway Roping: Kendal Pierson 8.4/2

The Girls High Point was awarded to Kendal Pierson, who earned 72 points, while the Boys High Point was awarded to Denim Ross, who earned 67 points.
