A Sylvan Lake resident and teacher is looking for people interested in starting a 4-H multi club which would have a non-agriculture, non-livestock focus.
Projects would be based on the interest of those young people who get involved.
Alana Routhier said 4-H offers many benefits for young people ages 9-21. Benefits are derived from public speaking and communications to building self-esteem and working on projects in a fun environment.
“There are also a lot of amazing camps for kids and scholarships.”
She indicated the club, which would be run by the young people, would involve two meetings a month — one a general meeting and the other a project meeting.
“If it wasn’t for 4-H, I wouldn’t be a teacher,” Routhier said.
The club wouldn’t just be for the kids. She’s hoping their families would get involved as well.
If you’re interested in learning more contact Alana Routhier at 403-887-7616. She’s hoping to begin a club in October.
