The weather was beautiful as members of Withrow Gospel Mission cleaned the ditches along Highway 11 from 50th Street in Sylvan Lake west to the Highway 766 entrance to Eckville May 4. Among those participating in the 23 kilometre job were Aaron Zinger, Jared Zinger, Randy Rein (in background) and Paul Van Velsen. They were just west of Benalto heading eastbound when photographed.

Thousands of youngsters and parents were out on Alberta highways during the 37th annual highway cleanup earning money for their organizations. Among them were 4-H clubs, Scouts, Girl Guides, Rotary clubs, sports teams and church groups.

In 2012 there were 566 volunteer organizations with 13,400 volunteers involved in cleaning 10,000 kilometres of ditches.
