A spectacular display of fireworks enthused hundreds or perhaps thousands of people (your estimate is as good as ours) who lined the lakeshore and other prominent perches to watch the ‘Farewell to Summer’ display Sunday night.
Usually the July 1st Canada Day fireworks are the most elaborate of the season, however the town’s contractor, Big Bang Fireworks fell victim to flooding in High River where they had stored their equipment. As a result the pyrotechnics were rescheduled to Sept. 1st and the weather co-operated with beautifully warm temperatures.
Another highlight of the evening was the number of lighted boats which cruised off shore adding to the festive atmosphere.
