Kangoo Jumps use specialized fitness shoes for a fun new way to exercise.

Kangoo classes perfect for all fitness levels

What fitness class can say it stimulates and drains the lymphatic system while increasing bone density and improving your posture?

What fitness class can say it stimulates and drains the lymphatic system while simultaneously increasing bone density and improving your posture?

Kangoo Jumps, a fun filled fitness class new to Sylvan Lake, utilizes footwear known as ‘rebound shoes’. Similar in feel to a ski boot the rebound shoes sees participants jumping and hopping along to catchy beats in the classroom. Rebound shoes were originally developed for joggers, runners and athletes, to help reduce the impact associated with vigorous athletic activity.

Originally stemming from Switzerland, Kangoo classes have made their way to North America in recent years, finding success due to their decrease in strain on joints. Various scientific studies conducted by the Swiss Federation Institute of Technology compared conventional running shoes and Kangoo Jumps rebound shoes. The studies demonstrated how the Impact Protection System of rebound shoes not only helps increase impact time, it also reduces the impact stress by up to 80% while protecting ankles, knees, hips, lower back, and spine.

According to the Kangoo Jumps website, “If a person does not move sufficiently, excess levels of toxins can clutter and poison the lymphatic system. In some areas, lymph fluid actually crystallizes into cellulite, and can be harder to eliminate. Numerous studies have shown that base metabolic rate, which is the rate at which the body will burn calories, decreases as our lymphatic systems grows less efficient.”

The organization suggests that a person spends about 20% more energy, or calories, training with Kangoo Jumps rebound shoes than with other training shoes. Therefore, exercising with Kangoo Jumps rebound shoes is a more effective way to “re-prime the lymphatic pump.”

As the lymphatic system improves, the increased transfer of nutrients and oxygen into each cell helps to increase toxin removal through elimination. Once metabolism has been reset, a person is able to burn more calories at a higher rate, whether exercising or not.

“With the regular use of Kangoo Jumps rebound shoes, base metabolic rate will become increasingly more efficient, resulting in noticeable improvements in muscle tone, and weight management. In fact, they actually allow the re-training of each cell to perform as it did, when it was younger,” states kangoojumps.com.

On a local level, Jill Crowley has been leading a class of dedicated ladies. Classes have been seeing high numbers with Crowley adding the atmosphere in the room is always electric. Her own Kangoo journey began not long ago when she saw the footwear online. Upon ordering a pair for herself to try out Crowley was hooked.

“I searched out how I could get trained to instruct and the next thing I knew a woman from Toronto was flying out to train me,” said Crowley. “We got our training a year and a half ago and have been hosting classes in throughout the area since April.”

She explained it’s been a slow building process due to the lack of individuals having heard about Kangoo in the past. She added typically class attendees express a fear of falling over when they attend their first class.

“It’s a common theme we hear but let me tell you, it doesn’t happen,” said Crowley. “I wouldn’t instruct something that was dangerous. Then after everyone tries it they beyond love it.”

Crowley added that in addition to the many other benefits Kangoo offers, the class is also a great cardio workout. For more information on Kangoo or to register for upcoming classes contact Jill or Chelsea at 403 845 4085.
