Leadership traits varied among nominees

Following are nominees in the 15-18 year old category who were recognized during the Leaders of Tomorrow Awards ceremony May 2.

Following are nominees in the 15-18 year old category who were recognized during the Leaders of Tomorrow Awards ceremony May 2.

The winner was TJ Sloboda (separate story was in last week’s paper).

Taylor Wright - Taylor works tirelessly in all things she puts her energy. She will be attending the University of Alberta in the fall and would like to practice law in Sylvan Lake someday. Taylor has strong ethics and will always stand up for the underdog.

Rebecca Lieng - Rebecca intends to go to medical school to become a nurse and continue serving her community. She is a leader of her graduating glass and great example of citizenship in action. She volunteers for nearly every event in the school and is an exceptional individual who loves to serve the people around her.

Logan Howard - Logan is a motivated and creative individual who always brings excitement to a room. He makes everyone feel welcome. Logan is a youth who will make a big difference no matter what he does.

Parker Alexander - Parker is a fun loving, polite, considerate young man with a great sense of humour. Parker is active within his church, is responsible for operating the sound system for many school events and always offers his time even for events taking place after school or in the evenings. He volunteered his time to help create a very special Hockeyville banner that was awarded to Kingston, Nova Scotia after the Hockeyville results. Parker embodies many qualities of a leader.

Jayden Wallace - Jayden’s accomplishments to the community are numerous and impressive. He has proven himself as a positive role model within his church, Sylvan Lake Cadets, and within his school. Jayden has volunteered to mow lawns for seniors, and participated in a 24-hour fast to raise funds for development and peace. Jayden is already a strong leader and we look forward to seeing great things from him in the future.

Kiana Cooper - Kiana is outgoing, enthusiastic and a considerate young lady. She demonstrated all qualities of a great leader within her school, sports teams and community. In honour of the town's centennial year, Kiana painted a beautiful piece of artwork that is now displayed within our new council chambers. She also co-founded a girls club with a major project raising $300 for breast cancer. Kiana shows the true spirit of leadership.

Nicholas Halwa - Nicholas is a funny and personable young man who is eager to help younger youth. He is kind and respectful and always willing to lend a helping hand. Nicholas volunteers for many school initiatives and is a great peer role model. In his community he has helped with charity check stops and Stuff a Bus. He embodies all the qualities of a great future leader.

Jaden Weaver - Jaden is quiet, determined and considerate. He is a strong student who shares his time and talents to assist as a coach or referee for many sports within the school. He was involved in fundraising for a service project that raised over $500 for the Cerebral Palsy foundation. Jayden is a fantastic role model within his school and our community.

Ryan Kostiniuk - Ryan is extremely dedicated and always practising to make himself better. He is always willing to help any students who are having difficulty and other dancers within the studio look up to him. You can always count on Ryan to congratulate other competitors even if it was their first meeting or they are from another studio. His positive attitude is contagious.

Julie Olive - Julie is an avid volunteer and hard worker. She spends many hours volunteering with the House of Music summer camps and is a very accomplished musician herself. Julie is someone who can be successful at anything she puts her mind to. Her combination of talent and intelligence are something that make her a huge asset to all who know her.
