Sylvan Lake Lions’ Flight Night will feature music to dance the night away

Sylvan Lake Lions’ Flight Night will feature music to dance the night away provided by well known, talented musicians, a delicious meal, a chance to win big prizes, and an opportunity to support a worthy cause.

Jon Frolick’s dance band, Suzie Q, which will be joined by Sylvan Lake’s own jazz musician and gifted saxophone player Eric Allison, at the Mar. 9 event.

Frolick, is based in Canmore, is a professional musician whose talent is well known in Sylvan Lake.

He has performed at the jazz festival with his trio, Cornerpocket, as well as worked as sound technician for the event for many years.

“I am delighted. It will be great to be among our good friends there.

“We are so pleased to have been invited by the Lions Club to play. It truly will be the social event of the Sylvan calendar this year.

“We’re delighted our special friend, Eric (Allison) will be joining us. He has worked with us many times in the past and it will be wonderful to have him back.”

Allison said those who attend the Lions Flight Night can expect to be blown away by Suzie Q.

“They are an excellent band and will play everything from rock and roll, to country to jazz. They will do their best to get people dancing as they play music from throughout the decades. It will be a great night; great entertainment.”

Flight Night organizer Klaas Van Veller, said proceeds from the event go to Camp He Ho Ha, a camp which provides rewarding and safe recreational opportunities to children and adults with physical and mental disabilities.

The big prize of the evening is a $1,000 travel brochure from Sylvan Travel and $100 cash. Smaller door prizes will also be presented.

The catered meal will be provided by Bob Ronnie Catering from Ponoka.
