A number of members of The Royal Canadian Legion’s Sylvan Lake branch were recognized for their lengthy membership and other contributions to the branch during an Honours and Awards luncheon May 8 (marking V-E Day). Pins are given to mark each five years of membership while a medal is presented with 50 years of continuous membership and bars are provided to add to the medal for every five years after that.

In the back row are Gordon Graham (1st Vice President bar for his Past Office medal), Rosemary Gerdts (30 year pin), Millie Little (Certificate of Appreciation), Laverne Asselstine (30 year pin), Victor Maris (35 year pin), Dale Mannix (Certificate of Appreciation), Gerri Stewart (30 year pin), and life member Marjorie Mellott (30 years).

In the front row are William Baird (65 year bar), Gerald Moseley (55 year bar), Larry Neis (55 year bar) and Al Hughes (45 year pin).

Another event is planned for June to present pins to those with less than 30 years of membership and those who may have been unavailable to attend this event.
