Members and friends of Memorial Presbyterian Church came together to celebrate their multi-cultural heritage on Sunday.

As many as 19 different countries were represented among approximately 100 attendees at the sixth annual worship service, called International Sunday.

Many wore traditional costumes and had created a special box to represent their country for our “Wall of Nations”. A large display of articles from around the world was assembled throughout the church to add to the festivities.

Highlights of the service included special music by Sylvia Morison (piper) who led processionals at the beginning and the end of the service. Michael McLetchie read a Psalm (O God of Bethel) and Marion McLetchie played the Bodhran during our praise music. In addition, a touching duet was sung by June Pearson and Rev. Jin Woo Kim. During the children’s time, many of the congregation helped to build our “Wall of Nations” as we sang: “For I’m building a people of Power”.Although chaotic at times, this was a joyful service and involved fun for everyone in the congregation.

Following our energetic worship, we all enjoyed a potluck dinner with a wonderful array of traditional foods from the various countries.

Our thanks to the many people who helped organize this event and to all who participated with such enthusiasm!
