During Sylvan Lake’s Centennial we’re attempting to quantify the generosity of our community with information and a running tally of donations to various groups and organizations.

We know how giving our community is and we want to emphasize that with this column. Please feel free to add to our list.

Year-to-date total - $270,503.06

• ATB Financial donated $1,000 to Red Deer West 4-H Club at part of its 75th anniversary celebrations. Sylvan manager Nancy Numan made the presentation Sept. 27.

• About $42,000 was raised through a fundraiser at Gospel Chapel for Sylvan Lake resident Mikeala Davidson Sept. 29 (Story was in last week’s paper.)

• Over $10,000 was raised through community and school Terry Fox Runs last month, for the Terry Fox Foundation in support of cancer research.

• Rotary Club of Sylvan Lake donated $500 to Red Deer Hospice Society during their meeting last Friday. The club’s hockey draft Sept. 28 raised about $7,500 for its work in the community and internationally.

• Tosh Marshall donated $150 to Incline Industries Youth Foundation. He received the money instead of birthday presents this year.
