Students of Lighthouse Christian Academy showcased their literary talents in a Christmas Sensory Poetry Competition in December.
Among the students in Mrs. Rivers’ Grade 2/3 class taking part were, in the back row, Wil Vermette, Rhys Fraser (first place), Solomon Fullerton, Jace Martins (third place), Nicholos Olsen and Lucas Byzitter; and in the front row, Taylor Smith (second place), Jashin Declaro, Marinna James and Montana Beattie.
Here’s the winning poem by Grade 2 student Rhys Fraser:
Christmas
Looks like Santa flying with his big white beard to his snowy igloo
Sounds like crunchy candy canes and jingling bells
Smells like rich vanilla sugar cookies and heavenly hot chocolate
Tastes like Mom’s homemade cake with yummy, syrupy caramel sauce
Christmas feels like loving each other and loving God. Christmas doesn’t come from a store. It comes from God.
