Recycling yields dividends for two community groups

Recycling

Throughout the year, Marilyn Lutwick (second from left) gathers, sorts and recycles bottles and cans at Tim Hortons

Throughout the year, Marilyn Lutwick (second from left) gathers, sorts and recycles bottles and cans at Tim Hortons and then the money is donated to local organizations. Tanya Doucette, co-owner of Tim Hortons Sylvan Lake, said the business matches the money, dollar for dollar.

As a result, the pair presented $500 to Sylvan Lake & Area Community Partners Association for the Community Christmas Dinner (accepted by Donna Ellerby) and $1,840 to the Christmas Bureau (accepted by Barb Watson) on Dec. 20.

“Marilyn does this so she can give back to the community,” said Doucette. “It’s fantastic when what customers leave here goes back into the community.”
