There’s still room for young girls to get involved in Sylvan Lake’s Sparks, Brownies and Pathfinders groups, according to Judy Scanland.

They have enough leaders but are hoping that more girls will choose to join the many activities of these groups.

The Sparks and Brownies meet at Memorial Presbyterian Church beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays while Pathfinders meet on Thursdays.

Currently there are eight girls in Sparks, 12 in Brownies and eight in Pathfinders. Sparks are for girls aged 5-6, Brownies for girls 7-8 years old, and Pathfinders for girls 12-15 years old. The Guide group is full.

If you need more information, give Judy Scanland a call at 403-887-4371 or Bev Witham at 403-887-4717. Registration is $110 and subsistence is available for those who may need it.

The girls are participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup this Sunday (Sept. 22) at 9:30 a.m. gathering at the pier. Families are encouraged to come and help.

Another big project coming up is the annual Food Drive where they partner with Scouts to collect donations throughout town. That’s taking place Oct. 10.
