At Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School, our mission is to grow healthy children!

Last week we combined the first day of summer with our first-ever Salad Day. Students harvested lettuce they planted last month in our garden boxes. They brought bowls and forks, and enjoyed a healthy salad, fresh from the ground.

Salad dressing came homemade too, in little spritzer bottles donated by the Alberta Canola Producers Commission. Students got to take home their bottles for their own salads all summer long.

Families were invited to come back and pick free lettuce all summer long. Special guests at our Salad Day included Simone Demers Collins from the Canola Producers and Catherine White and Patci Hopkins, from Alberta Health.

A big thank you to the Canola Producers for helping us promote healthy and active living!
