In the early morning hours of Sunday a small group gathered around the bonfire in Centennial Park for the annual Easter Sunday Sunrise Service (at 6:30 a.m.). Leading the group with songs, scripture and prayers were Cathy Janke, John Rivers, Rev. Jin Woo Kim and Julie Olive.
Following the service, about 30 people who attended enjoyed hot cross buns homemade by Harla Yoos, and fish served by Diane Powell and Lynn Bergen.
In recent years the service, organized by Memorial Presbyterian Church, has been held on the pier but it was too wet this year. Prior to that the service was held on the beach at Camp Kannawin.
