Sylvan Lake 4-H Multi Club held its fifth business meeting Feb. 3. At this meeting, we reminded our members of the opportunity for Winter Camp, the 4-H night at the Rebels, and of our public speaking competition which was moved to Feb. 15. We also made plans to volunteer at Bethany Centre where we plan to bake cookies and help with bingo on Saturdays. In addition, we are planning to purchase club jackets and have organized our achievement day for May 24th at 2 p.m.

The following week, Feb. 10, we practised baking cookies at Fox Run School and then took pictures of leading lines, framing and texture. Our project leader, Michelle Belton, has taught us a lot about photography.

Next we had our public speaking competition. We would like to thank our families for all of their help and support and send a special thank you to our judges: Jim MacSween, Bob and Betty Osmond, and Megan Chernoff for their wonderful guidance and words of encouragement. We will be competing at Zones on Feb. 23 at Kneehill with three other clubs.

We have plans to participate in Highway Clean-Up on May 3 and a couple of families will be hosting Japanese exchange students for one month in the summer.

Our next business meeting was held Mar. 3 and our next project meeting will be on March 10. If you are interested in learning more about 4-H or in becoming a member next year, please contact Alana Routhier at 403-598-1220.
