WATCH: Fall fashion in Sylvan Lake hits the catwalk

The Styling Sylvan Fall Fashion Show was the second official event put on by the four local shops.

Models took to the runway for the Styling Sylvan Fall Fashion Show at the Sylvan Lake Community Hall on Nov. 3.

The show, which was put on by Cobb’s Clothing, Eclectica, Peppertree and Saks Shoes, was in support of Sylvan Lake Community Partners.

“I think it was a success,” said Jennifer Goodall of Saks Shoes, who added the event was almost sold out.

This was the groups second official fashion show after their first one was held in the spring.

“I was told the ladies felt it was classier [and] glitzier,” said Cinzia Cappella, who works with Cobb’s Clothing, the Cadets and is the vice president of Community Partners.

The night was divided up into two parts and each part contained several different sets.

Each of the sets had a theme and featured clothes from Cobb’s Clothing, Eclectica and Peppertree. Saks Shoes provided all the footwear for the outfits.

The model’s in the show were not hired professionals, but instead were family, friends and customers.

“Something we tried to portray or display is people of all ages,” explained Goodall. “We didn’t want to keep it just young. We wanted to have all body types, all different age groups so anyone can feel comfortable coming into our shops and feel like we would be able to represent their style.”

The intermission consisted of desserts and a performance by Ainsley Elisa, who rocked the stage in an outfit from Cobb’s Clothing accompanied by boots from Saks Shoes.

Before the beginning of the second half of the show the 198 Yukon Royal Sea Cadets, who were there to help with the event, got to take their turn on the runway.

“They are getting part of the 50/50 and they’re getting the bottle deposit,” explained Cappella, adding it totals to $280.

Community Partners, who supplied the sandwiches and veggie trays, also received a portion of the 50/50 and the bar funds for a total of $630.

“I’m excited for the next one, if we do another one,” laughed Cappella.

Goodall said going into the future something they may look at is doing a sit down dinner, although it would raise ticket prices a bit.

“We appreciate everyone who came out to support Community Partners and support the event and local downtown businesses,” commented Goodall. “We hope that everyone enjoyed it [and] without our customers we couldn’t do it.”

Those who attended the Styling Sylvan Fall Fashion Show can bring their program into Cobb’s Clothing, Eclectica, Peppertree and Saks Shoes for 10 per cent off your purchase until Nov. 17.
