The Sylvan Lake Senior’s Centre hosted its annual senior’s conference on Nov. 20 at the centre located in the NexSource Centre.
The conference had the theme “A New Way Of Aging” and had three guest speakers talk on various health and wellness topics seniors should be aware of.
Dr. Sheree Kwong See, with the Alberta Seniors Advocate spoke to the assembled group on the stereotypes of aging.
Attendees were given two options from Alberta Health Services. Employees from AHS spoke on cannabis and also gave a workshop on relationships and happiness.
Over the lunch break, the conference guests were treated to entertainment from Sgt. Wilson’s Army Show: Music on the Bridge. The group performed songs that would have been popular during the 1940s and 50.
The day-long conference was rounded out with guest speaker Judy Steiert. Steiert presented different options and opportunities that are available to seniors as they age.
The conference was presented by the Senior’s Centre with the help and support of the Town of Sylvan Lake, FCSS, Bethany Care and the Sylvan Lake Senior’s Association.
