Central Alberta brothers win Alberta Best Ball Championship

Red Deer's Logan and Carter Graf won the 2024 Alberta Best Ball Championship in Sundre.

Sylvan Lake golfers Logan and Carter Graf won the 2024 Alberta Best Ball Championship on Monday.

At the Sundre Golf Club, the two brothers, representing the Red Deer Golf and Country Club, shot five under par in the one-day tournament to tie with Lacombe’s Brady McKinlay and his uncle Tom McKinlay Jr.

In a one-hole playoff on the 18th hole, Carter's tee shot was placed just short of the green but set them up for a birdie that won them the tournament.

In an interview with Alberta Golf, Carter said playing with his brother in such a big tournament was awesome.

"Anytime you can feel something on the golf course is a good thing and it was just a fun day, fun event," he said.

"Playoffs are always fun no matter the event. It was definitely a good time."

Logan seconded Carter's comments but said that it was a fun tournament to be a part of.

"It's not often you get to play in a competitive environment with my brother. It's a lot of fun being out here and playing in a team championship," Logan added.

"I think it's a fun way to start off the season. Everyone gets the competitive juices flowing and Sundre is a great club."

Next up, Carter will be pursuing professional golf this year after graduating from NC State and Logan will be competing in as many Alberta Golf events this summer as he can. This fall Logan will be heading into his third year on the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team.
