Coronation RCMP is advising that shortly after midnight on Oct. 1, the cause of the gas leak was discovered and the risk was minimal at that time. Residents were permitted back to their houses.

The appropriate resources will begin work in that area this morning to fix the issue, the RCMP stated in a press release.

Just after 9 p.m. on Sept. 30, the Coronation RCMP alerted citizens of a potential gas leak in town.  ATCO responded and the fire department evacuated residents in the immediate area on Norfolk Avenue.

The RCMP asked residents to follow all directions from emergency personnel during the evacuation. The town hall was open for those who had to leave their homes.
