Sewer line maintenance has been ongoing in the community of Sylvan Lake since April 9. The expected completion date is June 19.

The Town of Sylvan Lake is currently doing sewer line maintenance.

While the sewer maintenance is ongoing, it may cause toilet gurgling or bubbling, communications officer Jared Waldo said.

"Keeping the lid down will help prevent water from potentially bubbling up and onto the floor, in those instances."

The maintenance is required to clear any material that could cause sewer backups or blockages. As well, it is done to ensure wastewater continues flowing to the Red Deer wastewater treatment plant.

During this time, while maintenance is done residents should keep their toilet seats down, fill their p-traps with water to prevent sewer smells and educate themselves about sewer line maintenance.

"Understanding why you may be experiencing some sounds or bubbling and learning more about sewer line maintenance and why it is needed is important," Waldo said.

The sewer line maintenance is expected to continue until June 19.

Individuals who have any questions can find more information on the Town's website, sylvanlake.ca/sewer, or by calling Public Works at 403-887-2800.
