Build a planter event to help boost mens mental health

The build a planter event is on May 27 at the Health and Wellness Healing Hub

Men of all ages are being looked for to participate in an upcoming event on May 27 where they will be working on building planters for the Health and Wellness Healing Hub.

The Build a Planter event encourages men to make connections and improve their mental health, staff at the Sylvan Lake FCSS told Sylvan Lake News.

“This is a team-building event only open to men and boys. Men traditionally don’t share face-to-face as common as women do but they do seem more comfortable in social settings when working shoulder to shoulder.”

This is the first time the FCSS will be doing an event like this and afterwords the planters will be put to good use.

“The boxes made during the event will be made available for use by residents who wish to garden in them,” the FCSS staff member said.

For those interested in the event registration is required and individuals who decide to attend will have to bring their own tools.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a lunch provided.

In order to sign-up people can call 403-864-5583.
