Ecole H.J. Cody High School is looking for sponsors for next year's 3A Alberta Schools Athletic Association Girls Basketball Provincials.

Teacher Kolt Bell, one of the tournament coordinators, said that hosting provincials at the school will be huge for the town of Sylvan Lake.

In order to make the event happen, finding sponsors is very important.

"We don't get any funding for being hosts. Our job is to provide the best experience possible for the athletes, fans, and coaches. We are estimating around $20,000 to $25,000 will be needed to make this happen."

"We want the community to get involved in any way possible, which does not always mean money to sponsor. We want small businesses to provide coupons, goodies, or whatever they want in order to promote their business," he added.

Finding out early about sponsors is great, Bell said.

"Trying to get an early start in terms of money we can see what we can and cannot provide."

On top of sponsors around 50 volunteers will be needed, Bell said.

"We will be needing info desk people, scorekeeping, monitors for the doors/coaches room, canteen sales, shirt/hoodie sales, guides for the teams, traffic/parking control, and many more things."

The Provincials are expected to take place from March 20 to March 22, 2025.

Individuals interested in sponsoring or volunteering at the event can contact kbell@cesd73.ca.

"We are going to need a lot of help and it will be a lot of fun," Bell said.
