The annual Flags of Remembrance ceremony which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year is still looking for plaque sponsors.
This year there are 128 flags and approximately still 80 of the 128 need sponsors, Veterans Voices of Canada founder Allan Cameron said.
"If we can't get those plaques of honour up it takes away. The idea is to have one persons name on each one of those flags acting as a guardian of 1000 souls so if there is a flag flying without a plaque it means there are 1000 souls who aren't being represented."
For the ceremony volunteers are also still being sought after.
"We are asking for 128 people to help unfurl those flags during the ceremony. We would really like to have veteran peacekeepers, or veteran first responders manning those poles but if we don't get enough we will take community minded people that want to get involved," Cameron said.
Having people come to the ceremony to be there to honour and thank the first responders and veterans is why the event happens, he added.
After the flags and plaques are put in place along Highway 11 they serve as a visual reminder of the importance of those that have served and sacrificed for us, Cameron said.
"I've gotten emails from people, families that have driven passed these flags who have teared up when they are explaining it in the car to their kids as they are driving along the highway."
Veterans Voices of Canada's mission is to celebrate and honour veterans 365 days a year.
People interested in sponsoring a plaque or volunteering at the ceremony can email info@vetvoicecan.org.
The Flags of Remembrance Ceremony will take place on Saturday Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. but volunteers should arrive for 9 a.m.
Parking for the event is on Range Road 12 and there will be a transport vehicle for people that have a hard time getting around.
