An annual tradition that many Sylvan Lakers look forward to each year, the Giving Tree has returned to the downtown Shopper’s DrugMart location.

The tree, which was set up by the Friends of Bethany on Nov. 17 is covered with tags describing personalized gift suggestions for the residents at Bethany Sylvan Lake.

Individuals who participate by taking a tag can drop off the unwrapped gifts in a gift bag at Bethany Sylvan Lake from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

This year’s deadline for dropping off gifts is Dec. 15.

The Giving Tree also isn’t the only way to help the residents at Bethany Sylvan Lake.

Individuals unable to participate in the Giving Tree can still give the gift of time as a volunteer. Visiting with residents, helping with recreation, special events or providing entertainment are just a few of the available volunteer opportunities.

If interested in volunteering, individuals can contact Kristie McCrossan at 403-887-7741 ext. 236.
