Annual Sylvan Lake tradition the Giving Tree is back up at the downtown Shopper's Drug Mart location in Sylvan Lake.

Each year the tree is set up by the Friends of Bethany and is covered in tags with personalized gift suggestions for the residents of Bethany Sylvan Lake.

This year the tree was set up on Nov. 15.

People interested in participating in the Giving Tree will need to select a tag from the tree, purchase the item on the tag, and drop off the unwrapped gifts in a gift bag from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Bethany Sylvan Lake by Dec. 16.

Usually, it is recommended to select a tag as soon as possible as they tend to get taken fast.

Once the gifts are all dropped off, staff ensure that the gifts are then delivered to the residents on Christmas morning.

The Giving Tree also isn't the only way to help the residents at Bethany Sylvan Lake.

Individuals unable to participate in the Giving Tree can still give the gift of time as a volunteer. Visiting with residents, helping with recreation, special events or providing entertainment are just a few of the available opportunities.

People interested in volunteering can contact the number 403-887-7741 Ext. 236.
