Ecole H.J. High School will be holding an arts gala on June 8 celebrating the work of students in the arts programs.

Students have been working hard and are excited to showcase their work, teacher at H.J. Cody High School Alyssa Latimer told Sylvan Lake News.

“Portions of this event will be given to students as scholarships and this event where we will be opening the doors to families, friends and members of the public to showcase the hard work of the fine and physical arts in the building will also help to further grow students’ futures in the fine arts.”

Over the last three years, there have been many changes to the fine arts community at H.J. Cody.

“From changing staff to years without productions, this year we want to celebrate all the success the students of HJ Cody have had within fine arts, by showcasing student works to members of the community.

Tickets for adults will be $10 and children under 12 will be able to get in for free, Latimer said.

“People can call the main office to buy tickets any day Monday to Friday until 4 p.m. at 403-887-2412 and tickets will also be sold at the door.”

The doors will open at 6 p.m. with appetizers, a photo booth and an art showcase where art work will be available for sale. Then later in the evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. there will be a band concert performance.
