Annual sewer line maintenance has begun in Sylvan Lake.

The Town notified residents on March 5 that sewer line maintenance would be ongoing until June 30.

Since sewer maintenance can cause toilet gurgling, the Town staff want to remind residents to keep the lids down.

Sewer line maintenance is done to clear material that could cause sewer backups or blockages and to make sure wastewater continues flowing to the Red Deer wastewater treatment plant.

During this time, besides keeping toilet lids down to keep gurgles or splashes inside the toilet, the town said to fill p-traps with water to prevent any sewer smells.

More information on sewer line maintenance can be found on the Town of Sylvan Lake website, sylvanlake.ca.

Individuals with questions are also welcome to call the Town's Public Works department at 403-887-2800.
