Local musician Ainsley Elisa will be having her first-ever ticketed event at the NexSource Centre on June 28.

The event is all about reconnecting with the community of Sylvan Lake Elisa told Sylvan Lake News.

“I believe I would be a truly different individual had I not grown up as a Laker. I have never had the opportunity to do a show backed by my community and the town that I’ve lived my entire life. This event is the start of my next chapter as an artist: an artist who takes pride in being a Sylvan Laker and wants the whole world to know.”

Having represented Canada at Music Matters in Singapore, and working with different industry professionals across the globe being able to do this event at home is amazing, Elisa said.

“I am absolutely ecstatic. This event is the first event since the age of 16, and I’m now 22 years old, that I have complete creative control over my music career. My biggest hope for this show is that it will be the beginning of a super fun chapter.”

Half of the proceeds from the tickets sold for the show will also be split between the Town of Sylvan Lake’s Art and Culture department and Sylvan Lake’s Seniors Centre.

“I’m so happy to give back to the seniors centre as one of my first memories performing is singing The Rainbow Connection when I was 4 years old, at the Seniors Centre,” Elisa added.

For the concert, two hours worth of music is prepared for the event.

“Songs performed will be ones written by myself, with a few by my all-time favourite songwriters too. There will be brand-new-never-heard-before songs, some familiar favourites if you’ve followed my career over the years, and of course the songs that helped start my career and were my first radio singles,” Elisa said.

Pursuing the dream of a musical career is all thanks to the community’s continued support, Elisa said.

“The community of Sylvan Lake has only ever shown me unconditional support. From training at House of Music, being a 7-year returning DIVA at their Diva Bootcamp, learning piano theory from Brenda Fuss-Dutz, stage presence and choral skills with Jacqui Renwick and Kerry Heisler at HJC, and having Sean McIntyre as a personal friend now all because of our love for music.”

For individuals who can’t make the event on the 28th, Elisa will be performing several local shows over the next couple of months, including during the Sylvan Lake Artisan Market on August 4 and 5, and at Sweet Home on The Lake on July 8 and August 19.
