Local musician Cole Martin has partnered with Snake Lake Brewing Co. and Rival Trade Brewing Co. to create a new drink inspired by his song Waves.
The song that inspired the name of the Waves Tangerine Lager launching on June 23 was actually written a few years back, Martin said.
“I guess the song was inspired by putting yourself in the shoes of someone looking for love and making that jump and taking that chance for an interaction and I guess just being struck by the look of someone and going after making the first move.”
As for the collaboration with the companies, it was actually their idea to create the drink, Martin added.
“I used to work for Snake Lake and I did for a couple of years. I actually met one of the owners when I was just 18. I have often played music at both Snake Lake and Rival Trade Breweries over the years and I love them both dearly.”
The release of the drink is very exciting, Martin said.
“I was so excited when I heard their plans because I was actually getting ready to share some new music and the beer is being released at the locations on the day of the launch parties.”
The release party for the new beverage will be held at Snake Lake Brewing Co. on June 23 and another release party will be held at Rival Trade Brewery on June 24.
While the song Waves is already available to stream on all platforms Martin has plans to release two new songs over the next year.
Continuing to get out there is the next step, Martin said.
“I have started playing some bigger shows with a full band and I’m super excited to do more like that.”
