Neuron Mobility has returned to the Sylvan Lake, Blackfalds, and Lacombe streets with their safety-first e-scooters.
This deployment of e-scooters follows the re-launch of Neuron’s fleet in Red Deer last month.
Since the arrival of Neuron in Sylvan Lake, Blackfalds, and Lacombe in 2023, the e-scooters have become very popular with riders who have traveled almost 130,000 kilometers across the three communities, according to a release.
“We are thrilled to have our e-scooters back on the streets for another year and to provide residents and visitors with a safe, sustainable, and convenient way to travel,” said Ankush Karwal, general manager of Neuron Mobility Canada.
“Last season, our riders told us that 61 per cent of all trips resulted in a purchase, and with the average spend of $42 per trip, we estimate the program is injecting $2.4 million into the local economy.”
Riders, who must be at least 16 years of age, can book and use the e-scooters through Neuron’s app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
Single trips cost $1.15 to unlock the e-scooter and $0.39 per minute thereafter.
Users also have the option to purchase a range of passes, including a Plus Pass.

“Using research and applying our award-winning Knowledge Transfer model, we are pleased to collaborate on a range of safety and training initiatives in 2024.
“As a new riding season begins in Sylvan Lake, Blackfalds, and Lacombe, we encourage both new and existing riders to familiarize themselves with the rules by visiting Neuron’s online ScootSafe Academy designed to increase the safety of riders and those sharing the road with them,” added Robertson.
“Also, we’d like to remind all riders to wear a helmet; they are the single most important way for riders to protect themselves.”
Riders under 18 need consent from a parent or a legal guardian
E-scooters can be ridden on sidewalks, bike lanes, multi-use trails, and pathways in all three communities.
In Blackfalds and Lacombe, riders are permitted to ride on streets with a speed limit of 50km/h or less.
