The Eckville by-election which took place on May 15 had the unofficial election results announced that the next Eckville council member will be Collin Pacholek.

The unofficial results came in on May 18 after the couniting process began with the 71 ballots.

Being a councillor is a good and exciting new prospect, Pacholek said.

“I have an interest in this town, we have a business and a home here and although we are new to the area I think it is important to get involved and be a part of the community.”

The support from the community has been a big part of the election process.

“I would like to thank everyone for their belief and trust in me and I hope that as a councillor here and a business owner that people would avail themselves to me if they have any questions or concerns,” Pacholek said.

Personal connection with members of the community is very important, Pacholek said.

“I’m glad to talk with people on things regarding the town and I think it’s important to have that personal connection with people in the area. The town of Eckville is not the infrastructure and the boarders it’s the people who live in it.”

While the unofficial result was announced no plans for celebration have been made.

“There is no plans to celebrate. There is already a meeting tonight for the planning commission and then I get sworn in on Tuesday.”

An official announcement is expected to be made soon with new council member Pacholek expected to be sworn in at the beginning of the council meeting on May 23.
