1 / 1 The Town of Sylvan Lake celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21 at the NexSource Centre Curling Arena. Throughout the day, many people came out to the NexSource Centre to take part in the various activities. The event started at 11:30 with a community yard sale, a tipi display, teachings, and bannock and tea. At 1:30 p.m., Clare Butterfly gave a medicine talk, and the festivities ended with a Powwow Showcase that started at 5 p.m. During the Powwow Showcase, many dances were done, including the women’s fancy, the women’s traditional, the women’s jingle, the men’s fancy, and more.Sarah Baker/Sylvan Lake News
