The Town of Sylvan Lake is looking for a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) as current CAO Sean Durkin has announced he will be leaving the position.
For Durkin being CAO for Sylvan Lake was a dream job.
"After eight amazing years with Sylvan Lake, it has come time for my departure. I am proud of my time here in Sylvan Lake and even more proud of the work we have done together," Durkin said.
Upon leaving the position Durkin will focus his efforts on making sure it is a smooth transition of leadership for the person that takes over as the new CAO.
"Thankfully, we have a strong, capable, and passionate team of staff already in place that will see Sylvan Lake's continued success now and into the future. I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate every one of our staff. It has been phenomenal working with them, and I have the utmost confidence that Sylvan Lake has bright days ahead," he said.
Sylvan Lake remains in great hands with the leadership of Mayor Megan Hanson and council guiding the community, Durkin said.
"To all of the people we've met, and those who have shown us what it means to be a 'Laker', we'll be forever grateful. Sylvan Lake is second to none, and that's because of the people here who make it so."
Durkin's leaving is something council is accepting with great sadness, Hanson said.
"During his time with us, Sean made an incredible impact on our organization, leaving us in a stronger place than when he began. His leadership and commitment to the Town of Sylvan Lake over his eight years with us have helped shape the progress we see today, and I am immensely grateful for his time with us."
The Town will be utilizing internal and contracted resources as needed as they search for the next CAO.
"Council will be meeting this week to discuss next steps," Town staff said.
