The 2025 Meltdown event will be happening on March 22.

The annual Meltdown event is coming back to Sylvan Lake soon.

The Metldown is an event that celebrates the end of winter and welcomes spring's arrival with colourful activities.

There are many exciting events for people to take in this year, including a Holi celebration, colour throwing, a Bhangra dancers performance, food vendors, a hot air balloon display, and more.

There are also some new activities this year, including henna art, culture and tourism supervisor Channelle Brooker said.

"We are excited to add henna art to the Meltdown, giving our community the chance to learn about and participate in a cultural tradition. Cultural information boards will also be displayed from the Central Alberta Hindu Society at the event."

The Meltdown is a great way for community members to get involved to celebrate the end of winter and the beginning of spring with family and friends, she added.

"The Holi celebration is a fun way to learn about Hindu culture, throw bright colours, and enjoy being outside with the community. People can join in the colour throwing fun by buying colour packs for $2 each."

As well, for the event, it will be best to wear clothes that can get messy, Brooker said.

"All activities are outdoors, so dress for the weather. This is a family-friendly event for everyone to enjoy."

The event will be taking place on March 22 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Centennial Park.

More information and updates to the event schedule can be found on the website, visitsylvanlake.ca/meltdown/.

"We'll also be sharing information and reminders on Visit Sylvan Lake's Facebook and Instagram pages, so we encourage everyone to follow us there for the latest news, including any weather-related changes.
