Lemonade Day is returning to Sylvan Lake on June 22.
Lemonade Day is an educational program that teaches youth about being an entrepreneur by having them start and operate their own business (lemonade stands).
While Lemonade Day happened in August last year, the Town of Sylvan Lake is bringing it back a little earlier this year, economic development officer Amanda Mercer said.
“We changed the date so that Lemonade Day could align with the school year and hopefully be more accessible to busy families.”
Last year, around 25 youths participated in the program, and 23 stands could be found around downtown Sylvan Lake.
Lemonade Day is the day the youth put what they learn in the program into practice, Mercer said.
“In the program, youth are introduced to lessons such as goal setting, planning, budgeting, finding an investor, creating a lemonade recipe, choosing a location, advertising, building a stand, running a business, and reporting results.”
Registration for this year’s Lemonade Day program opened on March 1 and will remain open until March 29.
Business owners can also get involved in the program by signing up to be a ‘Sweet Spot’ at www.lemonadeday.org/sylvan-lake.
“Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 22, and come support our young entrepreneurs by sampling all the delicious lemonade,” Mercer said.
More information about the program is available on the Town’s website, sylvanlake.ca/youth.
